Meet the Artist

Hello!

My name is Kat. I'm a Canadian-American artist specializing in portraiture; pets and people! I always knew growing up that painting was a passion of mine, and I'm happy to use that love every time I paint a picture of your friends and family. I live in Coquitlam, BC with my partner and our two cats, Nellie and Prosciutto. They are tireless supervisors to all artworks created, so quality is always assured.

FAQ

Am I available for custom work?

Yes! I am currently open for commissions.

How do I request a piece for myself?

Simply contact me using the form on my Contact Me page here and get the conversation started!

What kind of reference do I need to send?

2-4 clear images of the subject(s). Feel free to send additional inspiration

pictures as well if you have specific style desires for your piece!

Is it possible to use a combination of reference photos?

Yes! I can combine a mixture of photos. A great example is when you want a family picture but not everyone is smiling or looking the same way. I can use a separate reference for any faces you want changed, so you can have the perfect picture! Keep in mind, when mixing references like that it is important that the photos used have similar lighting, or else the blend will not be successful.

What is the difference between acrylic paint, watercolour, and graphite?

These are all different mediums in which I use to create my art! Watercolour and graphite are both used on a heavy paper, while acrylic is used on stretched canvas. Flat canvas panels are also an option. Watercolour is a thinner paint with more transparent qualities, while acrylic is more opaque. Graphite is pencil, and therefore is in grayscale. All pieces are coated with a sealant before being shipped out to prevent smearing and ensure longevity. If you see a piece you like in my gallery section, simply click on it and the details page will state what medium was used to create it.

What sizes are available?

Watercolour and graphite commissions are available in any size up to 20"x28". Because they are created on paper that I hand cut to size, the dimensions are easily customizable inside that limit. **I do recommend you chose your painting size based off of the common frame sizes, so when the time comes to frame your piece you have an easy pick of options.

Canvases are not customizable as I do not stretch them myself, but they are available in a range from 4"x4" to 48"x72". Canvas panels are available in a range from 3"x5" to 18"x24".

Are frames included?

No, frames are not included.

How do I pay?

Payments can be made via cash, interac transfer, or Paypal. My policy is half payment before I begin the piece, and the other half of payment when I finish it (before shipping). It is also an option to pay the full balance in the beginning.

How long does it take to create?

After acceptance and the first half deposit, the piece will be completed within 3-4 weeks. That estimate does not include shipping time, and all packages go through Canada Post. If you need the order rushed for any reason, contact me immediately and I will see what we can do! There is a rush fee for pieces needing to be done quicker.

What does shipping look like?

Shipping is done through Canada Post and the cost depends on the size of the project and distance to travel. I will give a shipping cost quote once we have determined exactly what your special piece will require as far as mail services go. Local pickup is available for clients in the Coquitlam/Vancouver area.

How much will it cost?

The cost depends on the size and complexity of your request. Below I have listed a guideline, but be aware each project is subject to individual pricing depending on the number of figures, complexity of backgrounds/individual elements, and size of the piece. There is also a rush fee if the project needs to be completed on an expedited timeline. Shipping cost is not included in the table below.

Can I ask for modifications to the finished piece?

Yes, 3 minor modifications are allowed for free once the piece is finished but not yet sealed. This is of course limited to the modifications that are physically possible, as certain things in art are irreversible.

Any major modifications or requests not agreed on in the planning stages of the piece (i.e. want to change an outfit, different background, etc) will incur an extra charge to compensate me for the time and materials used to repaint. This charge will be determined on a case by case basis.
